Overcoming Fears: A Journey to Faith-Based Outcomes

by Toby Lofton in Faith0 Comments

Fear is common on the journey of faith. When God calls us, we start a new mission, or when we merely seek to deepen our faith, fears can surface and threaten to hold us back. However, it's essential to remember that many of these fears are born from our imagination rather than reality. To overcome them and pursue our faith vision with confidence, we must confront and replace these imagined fears with a vision of purpose. Here’s a way to do that.

Step 1: Define Your Faith Vision

Begin your journey by defining your faith vision. What is it that you feel called to do or become? Write it down clearly and concisely. This vision serves as your guiding light.

Step 2: Identify Your Fears

Now, acknowledge your fears. Complete the sentence, "I am afraid..." Be honest and specific. Fear often lurks in the shadows of our minds, but by bringing it into the light, we can address it directly.

Step 3: Visualize Your Imagined Fear-based Scenario

Take a moment to write down the imagined scenario that creates your fear. How do you picture it in your mind? Be vivid and detailed. By doing this, you recognize that your fear is a product of your imagination, not a foregone conclusion.

Step 4: Replace Fear with Faith-based Outcomes

Now, it's time to replace those fears with faith-based outcomes. Imagine a scenario where your faith vision unfolds successfully. Engage all your senses: visualize how it looks, hear the sounds, smell the scents, and feel the emotions. Let this visualization become a powerful tool in your spiritual journey. When fear arises, redirect your thoughts to this outcome.

Step 5: Embrace Your Faith Vision

As you continue your journey, remember that fear is not an insurmountable obstacle. By focusing on positive outcomes and trusting in the divine call that led you on this path, you can conquer those imagined fears and move closer to realizing your faith vision.

In the end, your faith journey is not defined by fear but by your unwavering commitment to follow where God leads. That, my friends, is the story of the Bible and of faith.
