Overcoming Fear: Trusting God’s Call in the Face of Doubt

Fear is a universal human emotion, and even those chosen by God to do His work are not exempt from its grip. In the Bible, we find many examples of individuals who, despite their divine calling, grappled with fear. Moses and Jeremiah, two prominent figures in the Old Testament, provide powerful insights into the dynamics of fear when fulfilling God's purpose.

When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses' initial response was a litany of excuses. He doubted his ability to speak eloquently and questioned his fitness for the task. Yet, despite his fear, Moses obeyed God's call and became a great leader, delivering his people from bondage.

Jeremiah, often referred to as the "weeping prophet," felt the weight of his youth when God commissioned him as a prophet to the nations. He expressed his fear of being just a child, lacking the wisdom and experience necessary for the role. However, God assured Jeremiah that He would be with him, and Jeremiah went on to proclaim God's messages.

These stories remind us that fear is a natural response, especially when encountering God or embarking on His work. It's crucial to acknowledge our fears honestly. Fear can paralyze, preventing us from answering God's call. Yet, the scriptures are replete with assurances that God is with us. "Fear not, for I am with you" echoes throughout the Bible. When we trust God, our faith becomes a shield against fear.

Just like Moses and Jeremiah, we can confront our fears and move forward in faith. When God calls, He equips. When fear grips us, trust in the Lord's promises and take that step of obedience. In facing our fears head-on, we unlock the potential to accomplish great things in God's name.

Remember the words of Psalm 56:3, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." Trusting God, we can overcome fear and fulfill our divine calling.

"It’s a simple read and has opened my eyes about faith and how we truly aren’t walking in faith as the Bible talks about. I’m not a big reader and read the whole book. He also says to read it through once and then go back and read it again with the workbook. I’m going through the workbook now and these are some tough, make you think questions. I can’t recommend it enough. Love his work." - Jayne
