1 Thessalonians 5:18
"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 is one of the few places in the Bible where we are told precisely that something is the will of God. There are many places that imply God's will, but this one specifically states it is God's will.
While we should always give thanks, Thanksgiving provides a specific time to focus on giving thanks. I pray that you will intentionally take time to reflect upon thankfulness.
Here are a few suggestions for you to consider:
1. Your salvation.
2. The obedience of Christ that gives you salvation.
3. God's love that sent you his son, Jesus, to bring you salvation.
4. God's abiding presence with you.
5. The Holy Spirit that makes you aware of God's presence.
6. The Holy Spirit given to guide and teach you.
7. Your fellow believers in Christ.
8. The promise of eternal life.
9. The promise of a new heaven and new earth.
10. Lastly, as Jesus taught, that your name is written in heaven.
I give thanks for you as well, and pray that God will pour out His spirit on you during this special time of year.
