Building Faith Momentum

We often face challenges that seem insurmountable. It's in these moments that we must draw on our inner strength, summon our determination, and keep moving forward. As a middle-aged military veteran and writer, I've learned a valuable lesson from my passion for running: building momentum is the key to overcoming obstacles, whether in athletics or faith.

Just like my aging body often requires a few steps to get into the rhythm of a run, our faith journeys may need a bit of a push to get started. It's natural to encounter doubts and uncertainties. But remember, every great race begins with a single step.

The Apostle Paul, in his wisdom, urged us to "keep running the race" in our faith. He understood that faith isn't about instant gratification; it's a marathon, not a sprint. In the same way, when I lace up my running shoes, I know it might take a few strides to work out the kinks and aches, but once I do, the journey becomes smoother.

Running teaches us that the journey is often as important as the destination. While we might encounter obstacles and challenges, perseverance keeps us going. As Paul put it, don't stop running the race. Keep moving forward, one step at a time.

In life and faith, we must apply this principle. Just as stopping during a run means losing momentum and having to start again, giving up on our faith journey can mean losing sight of our goals. In faith, there are no shortcuts. You must keep pressing forward, even when the road is tough.

As we navigate our faith journeys, let's remember the lessons from running: start with determination, build momentum, and persevere no matter the obstacles. Keep running the race of faith, keep believing in God’s vision, and don't look back—the finish line is within reach.
