GRATEFUL FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS

The final day of the year carries a unique weight. It invites us to pause between what has been and what will be. December 31st gives us a chance to look back with honesty and to look forward with hope. Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” This verse is not about counting days but about making days count. It is an invitation to reflect, to learn, and to recognize the fingerprints of God’s faithfulness on the year behind us.

As you look back over the past twelve months, you may see moments of joy, moments of challenge, and moments you never expected. You may remember prayers answered in surprising ways, doors opened you didn’t expect, or strength given in seasons you didn’t think you could endure. You may also see places of disappointment, loss, or unanswered questions. Yet even in those places, God’s faithfulness has remained steadfast.

Faithfulness is not always loud. Sometimes it shows up quietly in the peace that carried you through a difficult day, in the encouragement that arrived at just the right moment, in the provision that came when you needed it most, or in the strength that rose within you when you felt empty. We often recognize God’s faithfulness most clearly in hindsight, when we look back and realize He was present in ways we didn’t see at the time.

Today is a day to remember. To recall the threads of grace that have held you. To acknowledge the ways God has guided, protected, comforted, and sustained you. Gratitude is not ignoring the hard things; it is recognizing that God was with you in them. Gratitude is choosing to see His goodness even amid uncertainty.

As you prepare to step into a new year, let gratitude shape your posture. Gratitude opens the heart to hope. It reminds us that the God who has been faithful in the past will be faithful in the future. God’s character does not change with the calendar. His promises do not expire. God’s presence does not diminish. The same God who walked with you this year will walk with you into the next.

Take a moment today to thank Him not just for what He has done, but for who He is. Let gratitude rise like a prayer, steadying your heart and preparing you for the year ahead.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for Your faithfulness this year. Thank You for the ways You have carried me, strengthened me, and guided me. As I step into a new year, fill my heart with gratitude and hope. Help me trust that the same God who has been faithful in the past will be faithful in the days to come. Amen.
