SHARE THE GOOD NEWS

There is something beautifully human about the shepherds in the Christmas story. They were ordinary men doing ordinary work on an ordinary night. Nothing about their circumstances suggested that heaven would break in. Yet God chose them—not kings, not priests, not scholars—to receive the first announcement of Christ’s birth. And their response is both simple and profound: “When they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child” (Luke 2:17).

The shepherds didn’t attend a seminar on evangelism. They didn’t rehearse a speech. They didn’t wait until they felt qualified. Simply, they shared what they had seen and heard. Their joy overflowed into proclamation.

This is the heart of sharing the good news. It isn’t about having all the answers or presenting a polished message. It’s about bearing witness to what God has done in your life. Sharing the good news is about letting the light you’ve received shine naturally into the lives of others.

We often underestimate the power of simple testimony. A word of encouragement. A prayer offered at the right moment. A reminder of God’s faithfulness. A story of how He met you in your need. These small acts can open doors to hope in ways we may never fully see.

Think about the people in your life—family, friends, coworkers, neighbors—who may be walking through this season with heaviness, uncertainty, or loneliness. The world is full of people who need to hear that God sees them, loves them, and has not forgotten them. And you, like the shepherds, carry that message.

Sharing the good news doesn’t require a platform; it requires a willing heart. It doesn’t demand perfection; it invites authenticity. It doesn’t call for eloquence; it calls for compassion. When Christ fills your heart, His love naturally flows outward.

Today, ask God to show you one person who needs encouragement. It may be someone you know well or someone you barely know at all. You may start a conversation, send a message, or say a quiet prayer on their behalf. Trust that God will use your obedience in ways far beyond what you can see.

The shepherds remind us that the good news is too wonderful to keep to ourselves. When we share it, we participate in the ongoing story of God’s redemption—a story that began in a manger and continues through the lives of those who carry His light.

Prayer:

Jesus, give me courage to share Your goodness with others. Let my life reflect Your joy and hope. Open my eyes to the people around me who need encouragement, and fill my words with Your love. Amen.
